How to weld auto body panels that are 1/16 of an inch thick without worping the panels?

I cut out an opening for a swinging door on a box truck, I have to close the sides of the opening to be air tight. Its a 3 feet long all the way around surface up to 3 inches wide. I have to fabricate sheet metal filler plates to close the opening, but I know that when I am going to weld it it will warp, what is the best way to weld it? Mig or Tig, spot welds or a long small weld welding down with mig?

weld slowly this is the hardest thing to do because your going to want to do it fast.Tack weld every half inch or so do this along the whole weld , then go back and tack in the middle of the half inch spaces ALL THE WAY DOWN. This process is to be completed. Just fill in the spaces slowly and evenly till there is one continuous weld. i personally would not use a wet towel to speed up the process because the heating and cooling can still cause the sheet metal to warp.. just take your time!!!!! i would personally use the tig welder.
