You don't mention what position you're welding in. Horizontal/ flat /vertical? It's a bad idea to weave for flat and overhead welds as that can cause slag inclusions. I personally tend to avoid weaving with vertical welds on stainless as that tends to cause too much heat bulid-up and the weld appearance doesn't look as good. Stainless steels have less surface tension and greater puddle fluidity. in addition their thermal conductivity is much lower. Therefore you need to reduce current significantly when welding vertical, horizontal, and overhead, and with pipe welds. When compared to carbon steels. stainless won't hold a very large puddle when welding non-flat. It's also important to keep the size of weld passes small around 5-8mm to prevent cracking problems. Also don't allow the part to overheat. wait a few minutes between passes for the test plate to cool.
