Welding sheet zinc ?

my roof is leaking and i called a roof repair man, he said that where the two sheets of zinc were welded has cracked and has caused the leak,
the repair man seems a bit dodgy and i don't trust him, how would i go about welding the zinc myself?

Zinc is a (word meaning female dog) to weld. No lie... it is toxic when you heat it to melting. I would suggest a cold-seal treatment. Judging from your use of the language, I am guessing you are in the UK but if there are any standards that cross the Atlantic, try anything labeled as a 'Cold Seal' or as a last resort, use aluminum hydroxide colinate. Edit: Two points: A: I am a certified welder since 1991 B: Zinc is a pain in the butt Good luck
