Should I try welding in college/training school?

1 answer Reward0 Remaining Time 0 Day

I've been working at a supermarket for 3 in a half years. I would want to start changing my life and get a better career for myself. But it's a good start at a supermarket because it builds up ur experience. But really I'm tired of working there and get pay less. But still is money. Also how much does welding make? How many years/credits to take a welding class? Is it worth it for me to try and move on with my life?

Welding is a trade that is not controlled by apprenticeship in most jurisdictions. Welders move up in the trade by accumulating AWS "Certifications". You can get a basic first "Cert" with about 500 hours of classroom+practice or less — call it six months of community college. Welding is mostly about practice, and more practice. How far you go in Welding depends on your technical skill, and how flexible you are about job locations. Weldors (note the spelling) can make a lot of money in the Arctic, for example.
